Thursday, July 29th, 2010

When it comes to finishing off a particular room, it’s often left to the home accessories to complete the overall feel of your room. Mirrors, pictures and lighting can be used to enhance a particular wall or an area which will attract a persons attention as soon as they walk into a room. However, when it comes to total comfort in your room Novelty chairs will help achieve that WOW factor.

Hardwired Computer Storage

Tuesday, July 27th, 2010

Computers are an essential part of our daily life, they have been embedded into nearly every aspect of our day-to-day routine. From banking to shopping to driving your car our friend the computer has come along way in such a short time. Of course, all this technology at our fingertips has been taking pride of place within people’s living rooms and dining rooms, for over 30 years with the invention of the home computer. If your home is anything like mine then you’ll understand my annoyance at the unsightly mess of cables trailing to printers, scanners and fax machines. Having wireless helps a little, cable tidies a little more but cables – have this uncanny knack of wanting to be seen.

Here at UK Contemporary Furniture we understand that people still want to have their computers close at hand. There is nothing we can do about that, however we can help to hide all the accessories and cables that accompany each item. Made from solid oak the Oak Printer Cupboard is the perfect computer storage piece ensuring that not only are all your unsightly computer equipment and cables hidden but also fitting perfectly with any of your rooms décor.

Modern Coffee Tables

Friday, July 23rd, 2010

When people decide they want to redecorate a particular room they choose their furnishings very carefully, ensuring that all the pieces compliment each other. One of the largest pieces in your living room may be the coffee table, it has to be chosen very carefully as if it is too large then it will look out of place and ruin the overall feel of your room – if it is too small, then there is a good chance that no-one will be be able to use it.

Stress Bursting Comfort

Wednesday, July 21st, 2010

What is it about the word stress that leaves us all in such a fix? The moment we even mention your feeling “a bit stressed”, we’re carted off to the nearest GP’s and told to put our feet up for a bit. Stress, however, is no laughing matter. Work-related stress, depression or anxiety affected around 415,000 individuals in the last 12 months alone.

According to the doctors it may be possible to manage short-term stress using relaxation techniques, such as making yourself comfortable in your own home and listening to some chilling music. I have to agree, there is no better feeling than after a long stressful day in the office or a shift spent working on the factory floor to come home, get washed, changed, make yourself a drink and just fall into your favourite chair.

Bathroom Delights

Wednesday, July 7th, 2010

When it comes to refurnishing our homes it’s best to have a budget and stick to it. Allocate money to each room starting in the largest rooms such as the kitchen, living room and the dining room and finally ending up in the smallest room which is normally the bathroom.

However like everything else in life – it usually ends up costing us more money than originally budgeted for – we normally find modern furniture products which can be more expensive – but look so much better. This can its toll on the rooms which are still waiting to be refurnished and therefore the bathroom, which is normally at the end of your list, is the room which suffers the most from lack of funds.

If you are the type of person who slightly over spends your budget on each room and begins to worry about the dwindling amount you have left to spend on your bathroom then don’t worry as one simple piece of furniture can totally transform your room. A new Wooden Oak Laundry Bin will not only keep your dirty washing off the floor but it also has the ability to give the smallest room in your home a new feel as well as a great look.

That Summer Feeling

Thursday, July 1st, 2010

When it comes to redecorating or refurnishing our homes we are often influenced by factors such as environment, personal moods, friends input and the weather. If you’re unhappy when out shopping you may tend to look at furnishings that reflect your mood and end up buying items which are dark and dull – which you’ll probably regret purchasing some time later.

One of the best times to choose a new style for your home is during the spring and summertime, particulary when the sun is shining. It’s not rocket science to understand you’ll feel happier and brighter on a sunny day. You’ll also spend more time looking around for that special piece which reflects your personality rather than your current mood.

When choosing new furniture for your home, you’ll want to purchase a piece that will last for years and will never look out of place no matter how often you change your décor. One of the best materials is Oak with it’s tight, golden, sumptuous grain it’ll look great in any room – whether you wish to have a classy, stylish or a modern contemporary look.

Oak furniture never look’s out of place and will give you years, upon years, of satisfaction – no matter how dark and cold the weather gets outside.
