Designer Scary Furniture

Tuesday, September 29th, 2009

As we start to approach the traditional witching time of Halloween, one can soon expect to hear children rapping your front door just as your sitting down to enjoy your night time meal. Then, those inevitable words screech out “Trick or Treat”. When did it all get so Americanised?

You want to tell them to ‘politely’ go away but then you run the risk of your car or house being hit by a barrage of eggs or worse.

Thinking About Christmas Already … Don’t Get Stressed

Tuesday, September 22nd, 2009

Let’s face it when we start the normal run up to Christmas we tend to think about all the people that we have to get presents for. If your anything like myself, then your Christmas list seems to get bigger each passing year. Soon ‘the list’ has spiralled out of control and we are now buying enough presents to fill a small town in South East England.

Experts are predicting a bleak Christmas for some – as the money belt gets drawn in even tighter. However, what do experts know! This year will probably reflect the same as last year – with people still buying to thwart away any thought of recession from their everyday lives and enjoy the time that Christmas brings – even if it is just for a few days of the year.

Unique Modern Bathrooms

Thursday, September 17th, 2009

The modern bathroom is probably one of the most overused and underlooked rooms in your home. Perhaps it is on a par with your kitchen as the room that gets the most traffic. Bathrooms come in many differing shapes and sizes, even the smallest of bathrooms can be designed to give a feeling of more space.

Traditionally, the kitchen is the first room to be redecorated or restyled, closely followed by the living room, dining rooms, bedrooms and then, finally, we get around to the bathroom.

Does Cherie Blair Do Contemporary?

Wednesday, September 16th, 2009

Over the last year or so the whole world has been in the grip of a recession, as if you didn’t know, well for some it has meant that the annual holiday abroad has been cancelled while for others it was the ultimate loss of their family home.

With companies closing down every day and workers not knowing if they have enough work to last the rest of the week it’s good to see that for some, the good life still has to be maintained.

Recycled Car Parts As Furniture

Friday, September 11th, 2009

With the Government introducing their scrappage scheme there will be a lot less ‘older’ cars on our roads. Majority of the old cars will be scrapped, sorry, recycled, and made into new cars, vans and even drinks cans. Some, might even end up high up in the air as jet plane parts. A few will be tossed over great heights by massive catapaults or blown up by the BBC’s Top Gear presenters. Then there are the ones that will end up in your home or your favourite restaurant as furniture.

Sci-Fi Furniture

Tuesday, September 8th, 2009

When we were kids we would watch, religiously, programs like Joe 90, Space 1999 and The Jetson’s, thinking that was what the future would hold for us. Luckily, looking back at the badly designed sets, it has not turned out like that.

But what about futuristic furniture? Designers have been looking at the above-mentioned programs for years (OK, perhaps not Joe 90 nor The Jetsons) and have been dreaming-up some fantastic designs for our extraterrestrial homes.

Modern Contemporary Kitchens

kitchen-renovationWhen we decide to move in to our dream home, we all too often find at least one room that could look better, and not to sound sexist, most women would change the kitchen. I don’t think I have ever met a woman who was 100% happy with their kitchen after a new move (but that is just me).

Few traditional and modern homes don’t give us much space to accommodate a good size kitchen/dinner, so we automatically think about which wall could come out and which will stay in. Let’s be honest the kitchen is one of the most important rooms in the house – this is where we usually all meet up after work/school, all together deciding which meals to eat and at parties the best conversations normally take place within the kitchens – don’t ask me why but the kitchen is a social god send at a house party.

Looking For That Perfect Relaxing Piece

Tuesday, September 1st, 2009

It’s only human nature to sit and relax, nothing better than sitting on your favourite chair. But, what if you are setting up a new home and don’t have a favourite ‘relaxing’ chair yet?

Then the hunt for that relaxing piece is one, however, be warned it can often be a hard and tedious one;
