As we start to approach the traditional witching time of Halloween, one can soon expect to hear children rapping your front door just as your sitting down to enjoy your night time meal. Then, those inevitable words screech out “Trick or Treat”. When did it all get so Americanised?

You want to tell them to ‘politely’ go away but then you run the risk of your car or house being hit by a barrage of eggs or worse.

Contemporary Wallpaper

Decorating a room takes a person on a voyage of choice, taste and judgement. I remember when my partner and I had our first semi-row, it was over what wallpaper should be placed in our dining room. Emotions do get overheated in these situations, when two independent people decide they want to share living quarters with each other then decide it is time to refresh their habitat. We both had strong views on what we liked and disliked. What we considered suitable as appropriate interior furnishing for our small but important dining room.

Future Furniture Gets Technical

In the not too-distant-future don’t be suprised to find yourself sitting on your favourite chair in the house that arches over your head to reveal a Hi-Definition touch screen where you’ll be downloading the film you wanted to hire for the night and chatting to your buddies on Twitter as you all watch live streaming of the game that is being played just now. The door bell sounds and you flick the arm rest to reveal a small video monitor that shows the pizza delivery guy outside your door that you ordered and paid for online just 20 minutes ago. You pause the chair’s massage mode and shout the kids downstairs for dinner.

Funny and Scary Furniture

Every home should have a talking point, a conversation starter, an interesting or quirky something that stands out, sometimes a little, sometimes a lot. These, “conversation starters”, nine times out of ten have a modern contemporary furniture feel about them. But, what about the pieces of furniture that just don’t know where the line is, are so outrageous, that it makes you wonder just what the designer and the people who purchase these pieces were on at the time.

Over the years we have watched some great TV shows on the one-eyed monster, and some we have taken close to our heart. With millions tuning in each week to watch their favourite TV Show, it is no wonder that the furniture used within those shows became top talking points and even sought after items. Here, we highlight some great TV shows where the furniture became conversation makers. It is also interesting to highlight the way British and American producers used furniture to add an extra dimension to the TV characters they produced.
