That Summer Feeling

Thursday, July 1st, 2010

When it comes to redecorating or refurnishing our homes we are often influenced by factors such as environment, personal moods, friends input and the weather. If you’re unhappy when out shopping you may tend to look at furnishings that reflect your mood and end up buying items which are dark and dull – which you’ll probably regret purchasing some time later.

One of the best times to choose a new style for your home is during the spring and summertime, particulary when the sun is shining. It’s not rocket science to understand you’ll feel happier and brighter on a sunny day. You’ll also spend more time looking around for that special piece which reflects your personality rather than your current mood.

When choosing new furniture for your home, you’ll want to purchase a piece that will last for years and will never look out of place no matter how often you change your décor. One of the best materials is Oak with it’s tight, golden, sumptuous grain it’ll look great in any room – whether you wish to have a classy, stylish or a modern contemporary look.

Oak furniture never look’s out of place and will give you years, upon years, of satisfaction – no matter how dark and cold the weather gets outside.

Transforming Modern Furniture

Wednesday, March 17th, 2010

People like to get more bang for their buck today, and who can blame them, really. The financial meltdown over the last few years has hit hard into, just about, everyone’s pockets. No matter which sector of industry you look at, you’ll see evidence of the global economic crisis. The Art/Design world is no exception. In just over 2 years the Art world has suffered an astonishing £17 billion loss. From £48 billion in 2007 to £31 billion in 2009. That’s BIG figures wiped off the market. However, through all this doom and gloom there has been an upward trend in contemporary pieces and modern designers are in demand to create fresh and exciting work that perhaps can be utilised in more ways than just one.

There may be times in your life when you have to downsize your home. At some point the kids will all have moved out (fingers crossed) and you will be left with too many rooms. Or, perhaps, you or your partner may become unwell and unable to climb the stairs (not like the usual Saturday night, after a skinful). Or, heck, you might just fancy a change. Whatever the reason, there is something to be said for downsizing! It gives you a chance to de-clutter and get rid of all those ‘bits and pieces’ that you have accumulated through the years.

Child to Teenager – The Furnishing Nightmare

Wednesday, January 20th, 2010

As parents one of the biggest headaches in your life will be when your children reach that age when they say to you “can we help you decorate our bedroom”, then the thoughts of canary yellow and black gloss paint on the ceilings and woodwork mixed with striped wallpaper flood into your head. To be honest this is an image that you don’t want, although, helping your children redecorate their room can be very exciting and fun.

Recycled Car Parts As Furniture

Friday, September 11th, 2009

With the Government introducing their scrappage scheme there will be a lot less ‘older’ cars on our roads. Majority of the old cars will be scrapped, sorry, recycled, and made into new cars, vans and even drinks cans. Some, might even end up high up in the air as jet plane parts. A few will be tossed over great heights by massive catapaults or blown up by the BBC’s Top Gear presenters. Then there are the ones that will end up in your home or your favourite restaurant as furniture.
